RAYMOND TO DEBUT CITROEN IN PROJEKT E

France’s Cyril Raymond, the double RX2 International Series Champion and FIA European Rallycross Championship for Supercar event winner, will debut the brand-new Citroen C3 ERX in the Projekt E category at the Neste World RX of Riga-Latvia next week.

Raymond was a full-time entrant in the FIA World Rallycross Championship last year and will return to the driving seat in the first all-electric rallycross championship, that was officially launched for the first time at the World RX event in Riga last year.

The C3 ERX has been described as the world’s first R5-based electric race car, developed by Projekt E technical partner STARD in Austria, with support from Citroen Racing. The C3 ERX, like all cars in Projekt E has three electric motors producing 450kW (613bhp) combined power and 1002Nm of instantaneous torque and a top speed of 240km/h, using a four-wheel drive system and two-speed transmission fitted to both axles.

“I’m delighted to join the Projekt E grid, especially at the wheel of a French car. I’ve made my reputation in single-specification categories, being double RX2 Champion, and I really believe that the Projekt E format suits my style completely. I’m convinced that electric rallycross will not only provide me with the opportunities I need to carry on in this sport, but will allow drivers to make a career out of racing in this discipline, which is perfectly suited to demonstrating the incredible capabilities of electric technology,” said Cyril Raymond.

“Citroen has an amazing history in global motorsport and it’s an honour to be able to give the new Citroen C3 ERX its first competitive outing. I’d like to thank STARD, Citroen Racing and Manfred Stohl for the trust they’re putting in me to drive the car, and I will put in maximum effort to do my best in Riga.”
